Local cuisine

We have found a great place to try some local cuisine. At Carrefore (large 4-story super center/grocery store) there is a "food court" on the first floor called Food Republic. It has about 15 different food vendors, mostly Chinese, some Japanese. Since arriving in Shanghai, we have eaten there three times. It is super cheap and a great place to sample the local cuisine. Michael usually gets a combination of soup dumplings, although he is still searching for the perfect goyza (pot stickers). (Here he is enjoying a pork dumpling... check out his amazing chopstick skills!) I, on the other hand, do my best to find something recognizable, preferrably without meat. (Yes, I have already mastered the phrase, "I don't want to eat meat" in Mandarin!)
