"goo") is our driver. He knows a fair amount of English, and he has been a great friend, and asset, as we transition between two diverse cultures. Each day we learn new essential Mandarin phrases from Gu. Probably the most useful phrases so far have been the directions: left, right, straight ahead, and stop! Michael was very proud when he navigated a taxi driver from Hong Mei Lu to our front door using these phrases. The most important thing that Gu has taught me so far is the essential phrase: "I do not want to eat meat!" It has been great to have Gu in the driver's seat the past week and a half. Hopefully, many of our family and friends will get to meet him (in person) while visiting us in China!
